Milo Sachse-Hofheimer

At eight years old, Milo Sachse-Hofheimer began studying Graham, Ballet, Horton, Hawkins, and contemporary techniques in their hometown of Madison, WI. Once they joined the Kanopy Dance Pre-Professional Company in 2016, Milo performed at the Overture Center for the Arts three to four times a year. Beyond local performances, they had the opportunity to perform at the NEXT@Graham showcase in New York City and The Trade Route Festival in Chicago in 2018. Milo’s knowledge of the Graham technique allowed them to participate in the Martha Graham Summer Intensive in 2018 and 2019. Their early training gave them the opportunity to learn and perform from the instruction of a plethora of American modern and theatrical artists such as Miki Orihara, Steven Rooks, Stephen Pier, Denise Vale, Yasuko Tokunaga, and more. After graduating high school in 2019, Milo pursued a BFA in dance (Expected 2023) at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities.

In the three years that Milo has studied through the UMN Dance Program, they have had intensive training in various forms of contemporary, ballet, jazz, yoga, and African diasporic movement. Beyond their classroom training, Milo has worked on repertory pieces for Gallim Dance, Robet Moses, Brother(hood), Annie Hanauer, BRKFST, Leila Awadallah, and Black Label Movement’s Carl Flink. This past year they had the privilege of staging an original choreographic work titled "Resonance" for the UDT Spring Concert. The past two Summers they have had the opportunity to participate in the B12 Dance Festival in Berlin, to embody the choreography of Paulina olowaska at the Walker, to conduct movement research through Sidra Bell’s Module in New York City, and to dance with a myriad of artists at Bates Dance Festival in Maine. As they finish their remaining year of university, Milo hopes to continue to expand and deepen their embodiment and understanding of dance.
