The Jinnies

(Band)

The Jinnies are a Minneapolis-based folk/Americana group. They feature female vocals, two guitars, a violin and bass. Comprised of four former members of Mankato-based Soule, The Jinnies have an eclectic folk sound with lyrics that are nostalgic, yet fresh — inspired by old-world Europe as well as the modern-day prairies of Minnesota. The Jinnies have worked with dance companies like Black Label Movement, Keane Sense of Rhythm, Rural RouteDance, The Kinetic Kitchen, Minnesota State University-Mankato Dance Department and Dance Conservatory of Southern Minnesota.

They created the sound that accompanied BLM work “Field Songs” first premiered in 2009.
